2024 Course Overview
This course provides attendees with a deep understanding of the current challenges faced by racial and ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+, and elderly populations in their pursuit of a better health status. Speakers and attendees will engage in thorough discussions on the multiple biological, social, financial and cultural aspects that influence patients’ health-oriented behaviors. Speakers will share a careful analysis of the current status of our health care system that has fallen short in providing equal health care and opportunities to all members of our society. Sessions will highlight the role, responsibility and tangible opportunities for all health care providers to engage in the fight against health care disparities. Attendees will receive practical recommendations to ultimately achieve health equity in our societies.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

- Recognize the role and responsibility of health care providers in the fight against inequities in health care.
- Identify the role of multidisciplinary health care providers in the process of eliminating racism in our societies.
- Empower bystander health care providers to promote anti-racist efforts.
- Recognize the role of health care professionals as educators and leaders in the pursuit of health equity in our societies.
- Conceptualize concrete interventions in own clinical practice or setting to improve the quality of care offered to underserved communities.
- Recognizing, identifying, and implementing a culturally competent policy for addressing disruptive patient behavior.
- Identify strategies to properly address the needs of groups based on their age, gender and sexual orientation.
